Electricity meters to be renewed

We lodged an enquiry at the City to find out if the project to replace electricity meters are legitimate and received the following response: “I can confirm that the notices and the project referred to are legitimate. Electricity Services Department has embarked on a project to replace all proprietary end-of-life prepayment meters within the city’s supply area with a meter conforming to the latest vending and metering specifications. The tender for this project was awarded to Elex Khanyisa. The notices in question were issued to all consumers who will be affected.”

How can I be sure it is not a con-man trying to get access to my home? “Residents can also check with the Call Centre 0860 103 089 that the work was legitimate, because there have been reports of con-men trying to in the past to gain access to homes. The Call Centre and Liaison Officers are briefed where the meter changes are taking place and any queries in this regard. Meter changes are currently taking place in the Brackenfell (Ferndale, Arauna and Morgenster Hoogte) and in Kuilsriver area (Highbury, De Kui-len, Mabille Park, Brantwood, and Marinda Park). Notices will be delivered this week by the contractor in Kraaifontein, Scottsdene and Scottsville areas.”
