Update on Long-Outstanding Reinstatements
We’ve received many enquiries and complaints regarding the road condition in Wessel Lourens Drive. To clarify, this is not a pothole but a reinstatement following a water incident. Because two different departments handles potholes and reinstatements, it is important to report it correctly as follows:
1. Report a Fault – click here to report it on the city’s website
2. Create Service Request
3. Select Water and Sanitation
4. Category Level 2 = Water
5. Category Level 3 = Reinstatement after Water Incident
6. Address = Type 75 Wessel Lourens Drive and select
7. Add your own contact details and review
8. Submit
It might help if you log this too!
Background
A leak was detected in the road opposite 75 Wessel Lourens Drive on 9 September 2024. The VCID have reported the leak / burst pipe to the City and they repaired it on 10 September 2024. The reinstatement should have followed soon after, however, due to a significant backlog on the City’s side, progress has been delayed.
In October 2024, we were asked to submit a priority list of three outstanding reinstatements. We included this one and two others (Bauhinia and Esdoring) that have been outstanding for over a year. The one in Bauhinia was previously reported to the Mayor by a resident, but unfortunately, nothing came from it.
Despite regular follow-ups by the VCID, the last feedback we received indicated that work in Vredekloof would commence in February 2025. Unfortunately, this did not happen.
Current Feedback
On 28 February 2025 we were again asked to submit a list of long outstanding reinstatements.
Rest assured, we are actively pushing for action with our last follow up on Monday 03 March 2025. Unfortunately, we have not yet receive a reply.
We are having a meeting with the Ward Councilor in the coming week to inter alia discuss this matter.
